Welcome

Welcome to the refreshed GMAC website for 2010, which will provide you with a  succinct overview of the GMAC Model, Central Team and current governance arrangements for the partnership.

Shortly we hope to have a partner login section for the site which will enable community safety practitioners to view progress against recommendations in the 2010 Greater Manchester Opportunity Strategy. Furthermore, we hope to introduce a section for partners to track delivery of a strategic analytical plan, which will provide all areas with access to a 'Coporate Memory'.

Strategic Assessment 2009 Published

The GM Strategic Assessment 2009 has now been published. The document, which will form the basis for the Opportunity Strategy and Delivery Plan, was formally signed off by the Public Protection Commission on Monday 14th December. The following is the foreword for the document:

'I very much welcome the publication of this latest Strategic Assessment. We are in exciting but also challenging times. The creation of the Greater Manchester Strategy and the Public Protection Commission, along with the continued development of partnership working at local level offers real opportunities. The economic situation creates a stronger focus on value for money, understanding what works and why, ensuring we direct activity where it will have most impact. The Strategic Assessment creates a more evidence-based approach, where we can get a better understanding of the drivers behind crime and anti-social behaviour, identify trends and new threats.

GMAC has made great progress in promoting data and information sharing. We need to build on this with more visible action, sharing good practice and creating common standards, whilst reaping the benefit of joined up effort and the lobbying power of AGMA. The foundation, however, will always be the impact at the neighbourhood level, which is the best place to co-ordinate the work of the key agencies and concentrate on key local priorities. It is the best place to harness the support of local people, create new systems of delivering public services and deal with vulnerability and problem solving.

The AGMA structure provides a unique framework for partnership working to make Greater Manchester a safer place. We must not waste it.'

Paper copies of the document will be distributed to key practitioners throughout Greater Manchester. Unfortunately, due to the restricted nature of the document it is unavailable for download.
